One of the eight scenarios outlined in "The Future of Internet - 3" (Elon University/Pew Internet Project) survey is about identity - namely, The Evolution of Privacy, Identity, and Forgiveness:
Transparency heightens individual integrity and forgiveness. In 2020, people are even more open to sharing personal information, opinions, and emotions than they are now. The public’s notion of privacy has changed. People are generally comfortable exchanging the benefits of anonymity for the benefits they perceive in the data being shared by other people and organizations [...]
Respondents' agreement is divided (44% agreed, 45% disagreed, 10% didn't answer - please don't ask for the missing 1%) with no significant difference in the answers given by the "experts" subset. Curiosly enough, this is the only one with such an uncertain outcome as the other seven had a showed stronger polarization.
