When activism, regulations and the market march in the same direction

Following their intention to develop a national nuclear energy plan, the Energy Ministry of Turkey launched a call for bids to build the Country’s first nuclear power plant.

Just two days after a spectacular protest (followed by the arrest of 37 activists), the plan seems now to have come to a halt.

Having received only one bid (from russian Atomstrojeksport), the tender might now be cancelled as anti-nuclear campaigners would be able to take court action on the grounds of Turkish regulations about fair competition.

Will the Italian nuclear initiative be more successful? And, just in case, would "success" be the right word?
