12 proposals for innovation

An open approach to innovation: the Institute for Innovation Policies challenges everyone to take part in an effort to develop a set of proposals and to transmit the to the decision makers. The complete list of proposals for innovative projects in Public Administration [via GBLOG]. My favorite ones are:

  • a state-run, eBay-like auction system for property offered for sale by the Government;
  • a one-stop-shop for citizens to manage all their bureaucratic tasks online;
  • a pre-built Content Management System (CMS) for local government, in order to let municipalities cut development and maintenance costs.

As for the last one, there are already some experiences to be referenced: the Udine municipality (with both their public portal and their intranet built upon OpenCMS, an open source solution) and the Ferrara Chamber of Commerce (with a portal based on PloneGov, another open source CMS – specifically developed for e-government solutions). A larger set of case histories can be accessed on the website of the CNIPA – National Centre for IT in Public Administration [here].
