Of births and deaths, of basketball, of cabbages and kings

Metaphorically speaking, fortunately.

While the Basketball World Championship is entering its final phase in Istanbul, this remote corner in the northeastern Italy celebrates a birth (a blog by Sergio Tavčar, the most brilliant and competent italian-speaking basketball journalist – and probably one of the best in sports altogether) and a death (the local team Pallacanestro Gorizia, one of the few reasons one could be reminded of the existence of my tiny home town – at least until some 15 years ago, when it still floated between the two top italian leagues).

Along with all the beautiful memories, I’d like to remember how one of the most remarkable players of the current event in Istanbul was also one of the main players of perhaps the last great basketball event to be recently seen in Gorizia.
