The week that was – III

Last week, Agenzia delle entrate (the italian tax authority) published on its website the list of all citizens who presented a declaration, along with their income. The information is not considered restricted by law, but it was not so easily accessible (and, most of all, not without a formal request).

This created a huge turmoil, and highlighted a remarkable amount of uncertainty regarding the lawfulness of the publication. After a few hours, the data has been taken offline because of an ordinance coming from the Garante della Privacy (warden of Privacy).
